Description
A roleplaying MUSH based upon early 20th century warfare. We've run campaigns in WW2, WW1 and the Spanish Civil War in the past, currently as it's the centenary, we're running a WW1 campaign. Combat requires staff management, we run the scenes and play the opposing force. However, it's all coded and not solely human judged like most MUSHes are. The code is very mature now, it even supports submarines and warships though we won't be using those in this particular campaign. Suffice to say for WW1, there's a variety of weapons, trenches, artillery, poison gas (probably won't be using that either), medical code, field guns, coded ammo, melee combat, grenades, barbed wire, cavalry and more besides which are all coded up and ready to use. Despite that it is a MUSH and roleplaying, including in the battles, is required. When not actively engaged in combat people are free to roleplay the daily grind of being a soldier in the trenches. XP is gained purely from roleplaying, there's no specific bonus for fighting, and there's an RPG system to spend that XP on a wide variety of skills.

Korongil is a world of fantasy, where demons and sorcerers battle knights and kings. The darkness of evil Moralan is growing once more, and the forces of light build their strength to rise up and oppose it. What will happen? Is war inevitable? Within this struggle you will find common men and women who shall rise to become legends, will you be one of them? Only time, and RP, will tell. The theme of KorongilMUSH is a pseudo-medieval setting of fantastic proportions. The struggle between good and evil is spread throughout all levels of existance, from the lives of mortals, the world's nations, even to the deities responsible for this reality. The tides of war and peace flow throughout the past, present, and future, carrying the whims of mortals and immortals alike. The essence of sorcery surrounds all that exists, offering its power to all who have the strength to wield it. Fantastic creatures inhabit the wilds as the sentient races build Korongil's nations within their cities. The path the world will take relies upon the choices of those who struggle within its reality. KorongilMUSH offers interesting Role-Playing within its original fantasy world. You can portray one of the many inhabitants of this vast and varied world. Select to play any of our standard races, from the dour dwarves to the brutish xyloks, and perhaps earn the role of one of our more restricted species. Explore the nations of Elduran and Moralan while taking part in the intrigues and events that swirl around you. Your actions can shape the world. Justice or tyranny, life or death, the choice is yours. [2]

This is a top-notch, quality MUSH. The staff is extremely welcoming, and the combat mixed with RP is exciting and fun. Character development is not shirked beside the battles. I am so glad there is a MUSH filling the historical niche and it is so well done too.

Probably one of the few MU*'s that I know of that was brought back due to player demands, TGG is back in action. Right now action is concentrated on the WW1 Campaign of Gallipoli. Players get to play Anzac or other allied forces that were involved, and can be anything from rifleman, machine gunners, doctors and nurses to grenadiers and stretcher bearers. There are lots of new staff that are always willing to help out and run scenes for players. Gameplay is easy to pick up on, and there are plenty of help files for players. It is entirely possible to log in a new character and jump right into action within 5 minutes as chargen is so simple. Overall an awesome MU*, with awesome players and super awesome staff.

At first I was a little skeptical. I could hardly believe it was true, a historically based MUSH? Sounds too good to be true. Well when I logged on, I was shocked. After completing the chargen in under a half hour, I was given a Lee Enfield rifle and rushed into the Trenches. My first scene was an artillery bombardment, nothing like cowering in a Trench while German shells shatter the landscape. What I really enjoy about the MUSH is the speed and fluidity of the combat. The system is so easy to master after your first battle that you can almost dive right in after reviewing the helpfiles. No longer do you have to worry about someone being a slow poser. Combat poses are usually only a handful of lines that tell the other players what you're planning to do. I also enjoyed the lethal system. Rambo's end up dead as the German NPC's have pretty much the same stats as the players, and, unlike a lot of MUSH's, the bullets on Lost Generation can kill.

The game has a certain simplicity to it which is very appealing. You create your character and hit the grid right away, no fuss and no delays. The fear from many is that a game with open chargen will have an abundance of idiocy, but staff of the game keep a close eye on things like that and so far, the RPers on TLG are nothing but fun. Though it is good that you have at least some knowledge about World War 1 when you begin playing there, you hardly have to be an expert. The bboard has information enough on what you need to know and everyone is willing to answer questions. Though there's lots of code for the combat, it is used /only/ for combat and it is in turn only used when a combat-code scene is run by staff as it demands staff to 'turn it on'. (Although we've used the unarmed combat code for some barbrawling for fun - bruise damage galore!) The code itself also has the advantage of making things easier for players and staff alike. It is based somewhat on the Top Secret system, but nobody has to keep track of the rules of that system as it is all coded up. +shoot your enemy and the rolls are made for you! Change your combat style, duck and hide or rush forward like a suicidal maniac; it's all coded in to take into account various modifiers on that. And yes, the game is about War first and most. But the battles are just the start of the real character-developments; people die, people get hurt, there is mud, cold, trench-fever, rats, all the horrors of World War One to keep us very busy roleplaying. There is room to play a civilian as well, but I would recommend everyone to make a soldier character first, and then have a civilian alt on the side, as staff makes no lies about catering first to the soldiers, second to civilians when it comes to scenes. That said, the nurses (who count as civilians) probably get most RP of everyone as they are highly sought after and needed. There is also healing code and the nurses and doctors play a big part in keeping the soldiers healthy, via that code.

As a player on Korongil since it originally opened, I have enjoyed countless hours of fun and RP. The people are great, the RP quality is fantastic. Check it out Delrian@Korongil

Korongil... The theme rocks!! I got to make the character I wanted... There's room for almost any character idea in the theme (excluding star ships and the like as this is a fantasy MUSH) and the Admin are willing to work with you if your idea isn't obviously in-theme. Also the environment is rich, as well as the help files for each culture, allowing for quite a few pulls you can use to initiate RP that's fun and creative. This is the best MUSHes I've seen comming up. Telnet korongil.pennmush.org 6250

I'll tell you what... The folks on Korongil know how to make a veteran MUSHer feel at home. Here we have HONEST admins and LA's. Afraid to deal with the 'normal' player on a 1 to 1 level??? Nonsense!! If you have ideas than need an arena to be put into action, the folks on this MUSH will listen to you... and be HONEST!!! If you suck.. they will work with you ;) If you are a MUSH genius.. you will have found your dream come true :)

This MUSH is still growing, but the theme seems interesting and leaves room for players to add to the theme themselves. However, don't think the Wizards of the MUSH make the players do the work, because they don't. It has been my experience that they are willing to listen to any suggestion, comment, or complaint and reach a decision that works best for everyone. Players are encouraged to simply sit back, relax and enjoy the RP that is availaible. Telnet korongil.pennmush.org 6250.
