Threads of Time : A Carpathian Tapestry Treachery, like fine wine, flows freely though the halls of power. And where soft words conspire, sharp steel waits just out of sight, like a dagger beside a goblet of gold. The Eastern European Renaissance is a banquet of such delights, and a person who would share tables with rich and highborn folk had better keep his own wine and daggers close at hand. 'Threads of Time' offers adventures in a genre that is epitomized by courtly backgrounds, conspiracy, high stakes, grand style, rapid swordplay, daring deeds, binding honor and a fair helping of seduction. These adventures have a flavor all their own, a heady mix of style, trickery and graceful violence. Although such adventures can take place anywhere, it is only in the Renaissance Era one is at home in and around the court. Any muscle can hack and slash his way across a battle field, but the delicate gamesmanship and sudden reversals of highborn politics demands quick wits and a ready blade. This weaving of art, commerce, technology, religious conflict, moral and sexual licenses and political intrigue sets this era apart from the other's tapestries. Add to that, the anti- heroes themselves - dark, evil figures whose passions are no longer human. The Undead, Lycanthropes and witches lend to the weavings a dark horror steeped with fear and sensuality; the heart beats in time with the tapping of a talon on the window pane, a victim feels the fangs of a vampiress pressing into his neck he feels them denting his flesh, even before they pierce the skin and the low, mournful howl in the copse rises to a feverish pitch. Tangled yards of thread, spun to create a world wide tapestry - the weaving of seduction, intrigue, assassination and villainy most vile. In this setting, we use the tools that White Wolf has provided us in the 'World of Darkness' with a mixture of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons' Ravenloft theme and our own imagination to create a world that is weaved uniquely into...
