Description
The destruction of Holtzman and the end of the Great Revolt by the forces of the Butlerian Jihad brought the people of the Known Universe a new sense of freedom and unity. No longer are we leashed and harvested to become non-intelligent slaves for the machine minds. It was a triumphant victory. Was it not? It is now a dozen years since that fateful day. Now we struggle with living without the aid of the machine-minds that we were heavily dependant on. With space travel slow and expensive, instant communication non-existant, and the loss of various luxuries, we struggle through the days to achieve the lives we once held dear. This struggle for complete unity within the Known Universe has been difficult to achieve then originally perceived. As we stand here on the planet Urbanus, recently named by the Landsraad Head Council as the Universal Centre, we make countless attempts to communicate with those we have lost after the Jihad. Now here we loom, looking to the vast skies hoping our messages have been received and complied for it is here we will begin a new era of unified humanity. Here together, we will join the universe in peace. --- Voices of Dune has opened the doors to the public recently and the VoD staff wish to invite you to the MUSH. We are set roughly 10,000 years before the events of Frank Herbert's first Dune novel. The theme, taken from information within the Dune Encyclopedia, we feel it is a perfect setting for original and interesting events that would lead up to the Battle of Corrin, or miss it entirely due to RP. We offer a mixture of feature and custom factions to expand levels of gameplay. Original code is in the making to help move RP and 'rate' factions on their progress as the game moves forward ICly pending on actions and decisions a faction would make. This means a whole new econ and faction system none have ever witnessed! We regret to inform you that we are not open for IC interaction at this time as we are still in the process of building. However, we plan to have our doors open for IC interaction on February 16th! If you wish for further information, log onto Voices of Dune at duneiv.mushpark.com Port: 4244 and ask for Quetzalcoatl.

Set decades before the Battle of Corrin the MUSH provides a faction based environment where players may be part of the great houses as they vie for position in the Landsraad to determine who will reign supreme. [2]

I believe that my experience has been deeply engaging and interesting and I would recommend this MUSH to you. This is essentially for 3 reasons 1. The Dune Theme: If you are interested in playing political roles, then a Dune based MUSH is the place to be. You will be challenged to RP in a challenging and intricate environment. 2. A beautifully rendered world: You will find that the RP places and systems are very well described. This is obviously critical in creating a great atmosphere. 3. Admin: This is the first place where I have truly realized how big a difference a helpful and encouraging admin staff can make. Its common here to be discussing themes, MUSH directions with the Head Wiz. Being able to sort out queries through pages or mails with other Admin.
