Kael??™s forces a well disciplined military machine, made up of leftover knightly barons from a more feudal age, skilled rangers, and powerful wizards, have focused their attention on the destruction of the ancient evil lurking beneath the peaks of the Dragon Mountains, the orc and goblin hordes that lurk at its base, and within thousands of windy carved tunnels and caverns. Matching Kael might for might, the Matron Mother??™s steely ranks of orcs, crafty goblins, and mighty ogres and trolls, form the bulwark of the armies of Undermountain. Attracting all manner of ilk to herself, the Matron employs even darker beings in her service, from lifeless necromancers to bloodthirsty vampires. Her course is the subjugation of the kingdoms of light, turning them to slaves and corrupting them into her own dark army. Follow the path of light, and fend against the encroaching evil, or take up the dark blood-stained banner of the Matron Mother! Whichever side you choose, Kael or Undermountain, prepare for WAR! I am Tasydra, the head coder. Morpheus doesn't admin this MUD anymore because he sucks wang. Nessus is just angry because he has a small pee pee. I love you all. Except Nessus, he keeps leaving those "surprizes" around CB. -Tasy

I've been playing this game for about 3 years now and my perspective of the mud can be either positive or negative. The positive things about this mud are the players, the originality of the mud itself, the map, and also the gameplay. The negatives of this game would probably be the administrators on this game are pure jerks except for Serek and Anavrin, they are the only 2 i respect out of my whole time playing Act of War. Also if you get on the bad side of one of the administrators they'll make your stay on AoW a very unpleasant one, they'll treat you so badly that you'll feel like quitting, so all in all the imms are pretty rude and disrespectful. There are 4 kingdoms at the moment, each kingdom have unique players and talent. Also each kingdom has its negatives and positives, Tier is the newbie kingdom, but don't be fooled there have been many skilled players that have played this kingdom throughout the chapters, Kael they take the game very seriously, and rarely lose because they always pk in 6 mans, UM (Undermountain) is a rough kingdom to play in if your a newbie, they tortue newbies and treat them like crap, Dorne (Cairn) is a new kingdom they added recently and there is a good amount of skilled players in this kingdom which makes it a good learning place to be in. All in all, I'd give AoW a 9 out of the 1-10 scale.

Well, let's start with a little background. I've been playing the MUD on and off for around two years, some of it is memorable, most of it is not. The game consists of mostly playerkilling. You level to a certain status, and then must kill other players for the experience required to reach another level. The playerkilling is divided by kingdoms (3 this chapter) which have their own history, rules, and misspelled descriptions. Some areas have been misspelled for years, as not much care is put into the areas (not as if the playerbase would appreciate a well done area, anyway), it's usually a cut and dry exploration procedure (level here, best items here, PK, get more items, etc.) The game's Administrator has changed several times, generally unstable MUD. Some immortals have bias towards their friends and would more likely implement something that suits their character or their friends, rather than the MUD. The class balance is also horrible, in one reboot something could be overpowered, and in another it could be useless. On a less political aspect, the playerbase is pretty steady, with only a few truly excellent players. The rest have grown bitter in their time playing and often they claim areas of the map (equipment, leveling, etc.), or repeatedly kill people (depending on which kingdom you play). Generally the bad outweighs the good making it a horrible bunch of players. Most of whom play the game as if it's life or death, cheating and ruining the experiences of the other people. Aside from that, the code is pretty shaky as some people who have access to it have NO CLUE as to what they are doing. If it sounds like I'm discouraging people to play, I am. It's a really tough environment to settle into, and sometimes even harder to learn. If you try hard enough, you may enjoy your time there.
