Between Darkness and Light MUX (BDnL) The year is 2005, and the world that surrounds you is not far removed from that which you see around you every day. International concerns like terrorism, global warming, ecological and economic dangers and disasters shape everything and everyone. Many look to the supposed glory of days past, and strive to recreate those times in a new climate, though they have little chance of success. Every individual is faced with the dilemna of choosing whether to embrace hope and strive for a better world, or to embrace the grit of realism and simply make due with the often shabby and sometimes painful truths of a world that can never live up to those ideals. It has been decades since the world last saw those who dared to stand apart and try to change the course and fabric of humanity and history. Those who called themselves 'heroes' and 'heroines' ... and those who have been named by history as 'villains'. These figures who stood larger than life faded into obscurity, becoming little more than modern myth and legend despite the very real truth of their presence. And yet, rumors abound now, far more loudly than since the dark days of Hitler's rise to power long ago. Those rumors hint that other men and women, with powers and abilities beyond those of normal mortals, have returned to the world. And some are those who believe that it is these figures who may yet shape the next age of mankind. It is a world torn between the Darkness and the Light. Which side will you choose? BDnL MUX is a superheroic roleplaying environment, based on a near-real world, and including within its fabric characters from DC, Marvel, and other comics as well as selected other sources. We are starting with New York as our main campaign city, but we are open to expanding the grid to include other cities (including Gotham, Metropolis, Washington DC, and others) as the playerbase grows to support that expansion. Newly opened, most all of the Featured Characters are open for application, and we also strongly encourage original characters. ^[1]
