He just doesn't like it when someone enters his mud and says, Im blind I expect special treatment. He has also been very patient with players and I know most of them in real life. They AFK Bot and stuff, so after months of warnings he banned them. Most immortals wouldn't of waited that long.

Yep, there's a major problem with this mud, either their paranoid as hell, or do not want players. I also tried out this mud, said nothing, just read help files & attacked the barrels, which is the first newbie quest. There there were some mysterious comments made over the newbie channel about not reading help files, or talking too much, & wham, I'm disconnected! I log back on, & find that I too have been banned. Now I didn't talk to anybody on any channel at aany time, didn't complain, didn't do anything except read help files & kill the barrels. So why the ban??? Run, do not walk, far away from this mud....that is, if they let you play it.

Okay guys, here's an email I got from Taer about how he didn't ban a blind person just because of swearing... and by the way, we could be loud too... on another note there is a reason i keep replying see our mud is so important to us that we weed though people doing interviews see you are one of many people i banned quickly for causing trouble or asking for special services they all play here, you do not see the way i look at it is if you want to get into this mud, you are very quiet or you are loud and get banned i find the people that are quiet are the nice ones i have you swearing in my email yet i never provoked you which tells me, i didnt ban a blind person b-bye Zodiac :) I'm wondering what special services I was asking for, or what trouble I was causing? I was asking how to turn a prompt off. You don't get it, do you, Taer? Oh well. Bye all and I'm sorry to annoy you, but just don't talk on the Ramble channel because you can't talk without getting banned apparently. So don't use channels for what he coded them there for.

Okay. Here's my story on this. On connecting to City of Ages, I created my charactor which is a streightforward process. Name, password, class. Done. Now I login to the game and I'm using a screenreader due to my blindness, so I connect and I'm in the newbie center. Fair enough. So than I ask on the ramble channel how to turn the prompt off because it was getting anoying for my screen reader to bear. So Alias tries and helps me. After he didn't know what was wrong after me typing help prompt (the help files are shit as well), so after not getting a responce after reading that help file and after asking again; Oh and by the way I did tell them i was blind, because I am, and I'm using a screen reader, and the commands were buggy as well. The command that was supposed to turn the prompt off didn't work, so I decide to deal with it. So, i start kiling two barrels which is part of a quest. After doing so, I go south into this shop ready to buy an orb when... Traer tells you, "I know who you are." You tell Traer, "What? I'm a new player. Which I was, I was connecting for the first time. Traer tells you, "Goodbye." And the ban was placed on me. So it turns out that whenever you ask for help, you get banned. Oh and he hates blind people as well and doesn't want me playing his mud because I'm blind. Like i said, the game is fine. But it sounds like Traer has some mental ADHD problem or some shit like that. Alright. See you all later guys and Oh, feel free to try this mud and see how you make out. I'd love to hear your stories on this prick of an admin. I'm just pist off because I've never done anything and he's acting like i'm a previousplayer! Thanks, Orin (Ories). P.S. just some food for thought, Traer has a blind friend and he says it's too hard for him to play muds. Well yeah, maybe for him, not me. Not all blind people are the same, Traer. Just wanted to let you know that, dickfuck.

Newbie friendly, lots of activities besides just kill and level. Word guess games, quests, golf, horse races, space wars and more. This mud is well written and very easy to play. If you do have a problem there is a help file for everything or just ask another player. Stop in and play a while, you wont be disappointed.

Aye, here I am again this mud is a very good mud, I have been with this mud for a little over 3 years now, it is a small base but with heart.. with encouraged Roleplay... what I like about this mud is that all the areas are well written, and the coding is 100% legitiment non-stock code, all in VB. sure there is games and other such but the corps game is very well done.. endless leveling.. your stats depends on your Equipment., so every level gained stat is determined by your items its a bit laggy but all muds do have some lag one way or another try it out and keep an open mind

This is a wonderful and fun MUD when i first logged in there was no one in the WHO list but i did what it said and tried the PAGE LAST command. Lots of previous logins I just missed the peak time or something. I play non stop now and a few other MUDs I used to play I still do but this MUD captures all my attention now. The immortal runs all kinds of games for players I have never ever seen before or anything even like it. ie. scrabble and the picture ascii game. I have a starship now after lots of hard work and saving up and I can use it as a house now for all my rares and uniques. Just put your time into this MUD it is nothing you ever dreamed of before! Here are some things this MUD has that is fun! Golf Starships Stargates Scrabble PictureGame and Roulette!! If you don't believe me when you first log in type ROULETTE its a global game everyone can play! JUST TRY THIS MUD GIVE IT TIME Wow I have called into work sick just to play hahahaha curse this MUD for ruining my pay cheques!!! See you there! If you are lucky to give it a try!

All I can say is there is always something that keeps you busy. Even the very high levels are questing and discovering new things to do. One high level took me on a tour of the stars literally, amazing. The stargates are cool and work just like the television series! Some advice when you first start out go to Xavien and buy your stuff quick as possible, makes life easier. Okay all, ta ta and all that!

City of Ages is the MUD I have been looking for. It has friendly people and I was taken on a tour of the stargate system and the starships NOTHING I have EVER SEEN before. WOW!! I like Golfing too, sort of hard for a newbie to play though! If you are a Stargate SG-1 fan or a Stargate Atlantis fan you must come and see this MUD its amazing. I really liked the newbie zone and the newbie areas are very friendly and LOADS of EQUIPMENT! What I really like is that when I die sometimes I still have all my stuff and I don't have to go beg everyone to help me find my corpse. This is a REAL advantage for explorers. I can go far far out to somewhere and die and I had fun! hehe TRY IT I ALMOST DIDN'T AND I WOULD NEVER OF FOUND MY FAVORITE MUD!!! TRUST ME!

City of Ages is Fun Fun! Im will be brief and list some stuff I like Golfing! (hehe you can golf grenades at players) Scrabble for Glory Forge to build your character with Glory I been playing a long time and Traer just keeps adding to his MUD and he's really helpful! So I like him hes a sweetie. Roulette is so real too its sooo fun lost some gold on it overall but still it is a top gambling game in my opinion um, lots of rare types and treasures and lots of Questmaster and Guidemaster quests I like its just a really completed MUD and really like it I made 2000 gold today on a stock at the Stockmarket and didn't even know City of Ages had a Stockmarket!! So if you try this MUD I know you will be addicted to it One thing I don't like is it can get a little laggy as the MUD works hard to maintain all the built in games every 6 minutes I think Traer said but, whatever it only takes a few seconds to do its thing after 6 mins so Im cool with that ~Charlie the Thief Female Dwarf~

Vampires, goblins, Aliens, Were-wolves, cows. What doesnt this mud have? I truly believe ( and I know for a fact that I'm not the only one) that this is the greatest mud ever created. It is challenging, entertaining, addictive! No limit to what you can accomplish here, unlimited levels, clans, battles, quests, guess games. Come join us soon, the city is waiting.

First I would like to say that I am one of those players that doesnt like normal MUD's, ones that have you doing the same things over and over again, and then you hit your max and your pretty much done as far as leveling goes, then you can hopefully get some equipment to make yourself a little better. But there is always someone better. Not here. I like the fact that there is no limit to your leveling. Also, there is no variance in starting stats, your race gives you your base stats and you have to better them yourself via equipment and weapons, (which based on glory, you can make and improve on yourself). I havnt been on this mud very long, but everyone in there so far is very helpful. Another thing I dont like much is how if you ask something over the OOC channel, you have to keep asking and asking, even if its for basic help. NOT HERE. There are plenty of people around at anytime to help. If you get the bug to create areas, youcan do it, and you will be rewarded with glory. or you can just run around killing things and leveling, or you can increase your stats and quest all day. Basically, all I am saying is this. If you want something different that has never been done or seen before, or if you want something where you can run around and be a warrior or a mage, yet have the ability to beam down from your starship as well, give it a try. If you like the same old stuff that your used to and prefer staying in your safe little world and never experience change in any way, have a nice day! Try it, I dare you. After all, one man's magic is another mans technology. Come find out why!

Greetings, Yes City of Ages is a great mud. The skills and equipment systems are very well done and contain alot of interesting twists such as raring etc. I would suggest this mud to anyone looking for a predomiantly hack and slash experience. That said it seems that someone with a questing mentality may also experience enjoyment within the domain. There are a few annoying things also though. The crafting system here is really just a hacked spells system and offers very little in the way of gameplay. Also there are some hack arounds that drop the quality of the mud. As an example some item names lack spaces or are mispelt for some reason. I am guessing this is to get around some sort of syntax problem within the codebase. Other than those little gripes though I would suggest you drop in and have a look for yourself as it does have a lot still to offer.

Out of all the muds I played. This is the best. It has more quests then you can imagine and a endless leveling system that's why it's so addicting. It also has a major rare and treasured system. A good player base and friendly people online. nnd A glory system where you can add stats to your items. Some items a very high leveled it could be cut back a little and sometimes stat requirments are a little high too. If Anyone likes Diablo 2, they should try this mud out.

Out of all the mud's i have played this would have to be the biggest one i have see. Bye biggest i mean there is no end to the things you can do. I would have to say that there are so many goals that you will never get board. there are quests like you cant even emagen there is now way you could get tiered of this mud. it has a good player to player bases and there are rules to protect players form other players. There is also many many things that are in this mud that you will not find any were else i am not going into detail one that because i wasn't you to see for your self. There is a glory system set up so you can add stats to items for glory. There are star gates yes i said star gats, There are pets and many weapons that would blow your mind. If you play mud's you must try this one. There is a endless leveling system witch i think is one of the resions it is so addiction. But there are a few things that could be better like, the mud is getting bigger and could use more clans, also some of the levels one the items are high and could stand to go down a few levels ,and some of the stat requirement to use a weapon or a item is also kind of high but other than that you must try this mud.

If you like a detailed MUD this is it! Starships! You can lay proximity mines in space and cloak and shoot colonists and have a movement signature which made cloak very kool. Travel through wormholes to other worlds! The starship acts like a flying house in space, nicely done! Nicely done rares and Uniques system in this MUD. There are tonns of stats on items not just a few. Creatures in the realm have lots of quests! One of my pets is a level 33 waterdrak >:) Lots more! Very kool MUD! Try it, seriously!!

Review Submitted By: Dartaghan Author Status: Player Started on City of Ages: 1 month ago Submission Date: Sep 22, 2003 I have spent well over my fair share of time in the mudding community and rarely have I found a MUD that has impressed me as much as City of Ages has. This MUD boasts so many different features, one could never list them all. I will try my best to describe some of the many features but in order to fully respect and understand this MUD, you will have to seek out your own path within its code. Here is a brief rundown on some of the more interesting features that I have discovered so far: Endless Leveling. Rare and Unique Equipment. Intelligent Mob Behaviors. Forge your equipment with special abilities and strengths/bonuses. Study the skills/spells/abilities you want to within your classtype. Run your own shop and sell what YOU want to the public. Own your own house. Train pets that level and gain abilities with you. Magicfind bonuses. 50+ original areas built. Surprises abound. Explore to your hearts content and never get bored! Small playerbase with heart. Minigames- Casinos, Risk, Capture the Flag and many more! Stats that actually matter. PK is optional but restricted to IC Clans. These are just a few of the features that make up this amazingly well coded MUD, even the option to explore the far reaches of space is available with your very own rocketship!! I have only begun to play and have been addicted ever since. If you are looking for something unique and easy to play/understand, then City of Ages is definately a wise choice!

I been playing a few months at City of Ages and I just wanted to make some points about it. I was asked to do a review and to be brutally honest so here goes: Im a monk there. I highly recommend Monk or Thief. Thieves can steal items from creatures and players. I like to build my monk strength up for extra damage. Thats a little about me. PLAY IT if you LOOOOOOVE to QUEST there is like 10 quest engines!!!!! Just enter the MUD and type HELP FORGE. That is what I been doing - questing for glory and building my characters its FUN FUN FUN! PLAY IT if you like to gamble with your gold PLAY IT if you like mobs that have lots of skills PLAY IT if you want your own house to store stuff PLAY IT if you want noobie help - the help is almost annoying they want to help you so badly PLAY IT if you LOVE rares - I got a level 4 rare item it is sooo pretty :) PLAY IT if you like to level faster than most muds DONT PLAY IT if you only play to PK it is very restricted DONT PLAY IT if you expect a tonn of players there it is still a growing mud DONT PLAY IT if you expect A LOT of roleplaying going on - they try hard to roleplay there - probably if there was more players there it would help roleplay - mostly people just talk about their items OVER ALL I am very pleased with CoA. Over all I just wish more people would come and fill up the place so I can meet more people. But there is so much to do and quest for Im pretty busy.

I just started to play this MUD it has so much!! I got tired of perfecting a MUD after a month. It has been a month and I am winning at a real roulette table! I lost some at this really SWEET stockmarket, it hit a low! lol I finally found the spacestation and I use to like SWG MUDS for starships - this starship is so AWESOME. I can use it like a house and I can drop stuff that no one can take and I can upgrade it and go colonize other worlds. Then I can go back playing again. The administrator Traer just did a player wipe so its all fair for new people to come play. Apparently he found two exploits where high levels were living off of and warned everyone to report all exploits so he can catch them in time. Well they didn't you will see them maybe complaining as noobies, lots of thost power players left that I can see. I like quiet MUDs. After 10 years of hardcore MUD playing I even sent in a donation for a house! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recomment this MUD. In fact I wouldn't even be writing about any MUD unless it was this fun! I gave up Diablo 2 because their rares are AWESOME!!!!!! See you there! If not, you are really missing out. Just level to about 50 you will see what I mean! Miner.

Kaldar was smoking crack that day he is actually a leader of a clan lol City of Ages is a vas array of skills, and class, the weapon system is divers, and the item rarity is unique, you can have rare items with any stats, and regular items that is bland stats with the luck of the draw you can get a shadow item which is a level 6+rare item. we have starships to fly around in a 3d matrix. and the same rules apply.. if you are in space their is no air, hence you choke and take damege, if you are underwater without spells of aqua breath you will choke from no oxygen, and even radiation burns from a damege starship can kill you. This mud is well made, and diverse in its players I recommend this mud to the newbs of mud worlds to the veterans of muds ~despair
– TopMUDSites.Com Review (Archived) by Despair on Jul 23, 2003
The mud itself is nice, with clans, items that rare, etc. But the leadership of the mud is far below good. If you happen to choose a name of a former person he did not like he will accuse you of being that person and ban you. I would not recommend this mud to anyone, unless you are prepared to deal with a less than adequate mud immortal. In my personal opinion, if he cant do better...he should just shut it down.
– TopMUDSites.Com Review (Archived) by Kaldar on Jul 20, 2003
No item corpsing. A donation room. Clans. Visible stats. Item auctioning. Great leadership (Traer). A casino and realm-wide roulette. What more could you possibly ask for in the first and greatest visual basic mud? Maybe free beer, but hey, it's great all the same. THIS MUD IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
– TopMUDSites.Com Review (Archived) by Spam on Jul 9, 2003
City of Ages is the first fully functional Visual basics mud out there, coded by Traer which is very talented in room descriptions, class, and race editing, in this world you dont train your stats, the way it is worked on her is that you find items that boosts your EQ best thing is about this mud is you dont corpse your items you worked so hard for. when you hit level 125 which is quite the accomplishment, you are able to buy a starship which opens up diffrent game play, the universe of city of ages consists of 5+ planets most you have to fly there in Starships, with starships you are also able to be apart of the space wars, which is total universal war, of taking over areas, and fighting to keep it with colonists. unlike starships in other muds, the space flight is based on a 3D rubix cube, so you use navigation numbers like X Y Z from all the muds I have seen out there this is by far my fave mud out here, and has the real makings of a great mud.

I have been mudding well over 10 years. I've searched and searched for a mud that will fill my need for both slash and kill as well as mentally stimulating quests and challenging areas. This mud has it all. It's also a family. The players are helpful and friendly and look out for one another. This is by far the best mud I've ever been to and I plan on being here for a very long time. I think every mudder would greatly benefit by joining City of Ages. ~>* *<~

Well after many years of mudding I was greatly impressed by this new addition to the mudding world. Even though it has been a up and running VB mud since 2000 I think it has only really come into fruitation in the last few months. When I first played here it was very much a smash and grab mud with no roleplay or reason to play. When I returned I was happy to see that at last this realm is becoming just that, A realm. Much still needs to be done to reach the level of a totally engrossing experience but it is on its way. Filled with a wide selection of quests and a new item system that is so good, it is beyond explaination I would suggest you drop by and have a look. Jarris Woodsman

City of Ages is the best MUD I've played. I love quests and it has a great system of building the quests right into the mud, so you just find them in the normal course of playing. There are also automated quest systems and admin run quests. There are many areas and lots of exploring. Equipment system is great! Each piece has its own attributes and you can find, for example, a cap that gives only a few stat pluses, or the same cap description but level RARE with many more stat pluses. There are fun things like gambling, stock market, starships that you can leave equipment in and travel to planets in, colonies that pay you rent, etc. There are limitless levels and your power is very equipment based. VERY much fun to try to better your equipment. There are some talker areas where you can just sit and chat, like the city bus. You can ride it around the city with friends and have private conversations. Also there is a space shuttle that you can just sit on and ride also. Constant updates to areas and quests. Lots of changes pending too, which is great. The admin work hard and are great guys. Very easy to talk to and they look for opinions. There are also crowns of glory you can win in various ways, and use to buy stats or descriptions for one of your items, to customize it to your needs. Also various means of quick travel, waystones, magic words, gate spells. This is a VERY fun and addictive game and you can go as high as you want and if you like exploring there are many many places with new things always being added. Automated battles and corpse searches too!

Well hello there, you thought my review worth reading? Well thank you! Ok lets begin shall we, City of Ages, for a game with an as yet small playerbase is one of the best muds I have played, once it gets more players, (YES I MEAN YOU) it will rock. Rangek and Traer do a great job of building and expanding the realm that is CoA. I have found them both to be fair and honest with their players, they arent playing the stay and we will give you card which I always think is tacky. They listen to player ideas and have even setup a dedicated forum on the muds website jusy for player ideas. Anyways All I have to say is drop in and have a look, If you like it as much as I do you will stay and play. Farewell Amylon

Greetings Reader. So you want to hear about City of Ages? Well what can I say, its a deeply involving world where players can kill things until their hearts are content. It has a large variety of quests also and the best, most indepth equipment system I have ever seen. Lets take a simple sword as an example: When you get the sword it could be a normal sword, a treasure - Has some extra attribute, 2 extra strength etc, a rare - Has a couple of extra attributes and perhaps a skill attached, so when you wield it it might cast iceshield or some such. Rares and Treasures have levels too so you might get a level 2 rare that is even more powerful than the normal rare. That item system was enough to keep me there. Its like a endless quest for better stuff. The only gripe I have is that though the game is alot of fun it lacks some depth, I talked about this to one of the dieties and he informed me that he is at present creating more roleplay based stuff and so I think given free reign to implement this he will help to create one of the best muds ever made. Anyway thats just my opinion and as such not worth alot so come have a look, its very newbie friendly and their Player base is always happy to help the new guy/girl. Amylon
