Dark Gift, formerly known as the Damned, is one of the original World of Darkness MUSHes, as well as the longest continuously running. The game is set in a Gothic punk version of Pittsburgh in the early years of the twenty first century. We support Vampire: the Masquerade and Werewolf: the Apocalypse as well as Gypsies, Hunters, Mortals with Numina, and of course, mortals.

Dark Gift is a (sometimes considered the) Classic Urban World of Darkness MUSH currently supporting Mortals, Mortal+, Hunters: Hunted, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Werewolf: The Apocalypse. The game has been actively running since 1994 and currently maintains some of its original staff and players, although as of writing in January of 2008 the active playerbase has diminished significantly. Our goal is to provide a platform for gritty, cinematic writing styles and we have a long history of providing quality RolePlay of this type within the World of Darkness setting in spite of some negative reports of conduct from staff who are no longer in our employ. We are seeking players with a cooperative storytelling attitude toward text-based RolePlay, whose literary bents match our style of gaming.

One of the original World of Darkness / Vampire worlds, Dark Gift is a roleplaying MUSH set in modern day Pittsburgh, and based on the White Wolf / Storyteller system; more specifically, Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocalypse . Players may connect as new, and create mortals to interact in this roleplay world: roam the streets, hang out in clubs, meet new people, attend city functions and parties just as in real life. Through good roleplaying, one may find themselves caught up in the web of mortal and even supernatural intrigue which abounds in the city. New players who are experienced with the systems may opt to apply for supernatural positions if any are open. These are usually posted in the Message of the Day or on signs in the Out of Character Room.

This MUSH used to be The Damned, except, back in December, an administrative schism tore the place into two MUSHes. Both places were quite convinced theirs was the One True Way (of course), and in general, a lot of childish carrying-on was done for a month or two. The dust seems to have settled now, with Dark Gift remaining the Pittsburgh-by-Night MUSH, and The Damned settling into a well-deserved ignominy. Scratch one more White Wolf World of Darkness MUSH. As of 5/18/95, Dark Gift is homeless and searching for a new site.

One of the granddaddies of the World of Darkness genre, Dark Gift has been around since 1994, providing a rich tapestry for players. The staff of Dark Gift is once again inviting players to come experience life in Pittsburgh. There have been many changes recently, including a staff decision to support only the Vampire and Mortal/Mortal+ spheres. This change brings new meaning to the politics in Pittsburgh. Also, Homeland Security has issued a heightened terror alert for the Pittsburgh area, bringing a new level of security and apprehension to the inhabitants of the area. What threat is now lurking in the steel city that could rile up the attentions of the federal government?
