Dragonball Saga: Old School is a really entertaining mud, mostly with powerleveling, stat training, equipment hunting, quests, roleplaying and more! The admins are really reliable and the mud almost never crashes and never goes down! New rooms are being built, and players are friendly. Playerkilling is only restricted to players who turn their PK flag on and hardcore characters. Quests are held on occassion, while roleplaying events are held as well. Originated from the original Dragonball Saga, it has grown into a great, reliable fun mud! [2]
Dragon Ball Saga: Old School is one of the many clones that has been created since the release of both 2.0 and 2.5 of the DBS bases, however we hold one subtle difference over all other clones..that is original code from the infamous Horus and aspiring Kronotross and well thought out areas from builders who love more than one desc per area worth more than five lines of buffer space. We offer, genies , saiyans and a multitude of races as well as signature areas from the show and the moves you loved such as, Death Ball and Roshi's Island . To find out more, why not come and check us out? [3]

I've played a lot of clones. Being an old player from original saga I've never found a clone to be like the original. But Old School is as good as it gets, it has kept a lot of the GOOD stuff that saga had and updated the stuff that really should of been updated along time ago, also a lot of areas have been added by builders that can actually build unlike most of the other clones. I wont go into naming them. They're not hard to find. ;) Old school also has the best pbase I've found on any clone. And a lot of the players from original saga have come to OS. The admins are fair and polite unless you do something wrong obviously. All in all OS RAWKS by far the best clone out there!

The Old School team has advanced the Mud to new heights now adding another playable race, revamping the skill system, and adding a new element to PK. New changes are yet to come including a new Hardcore System. The Immortals are friendly. The players are helpful. And anyone new the the mud has a easy walk through as well as a channel for questions. Roleplaying is encouraged and fun allowing you to go into the depths of your character. I have been in this mud through the hardships and trials. The mud is a better place than before and expanding quickly. You should come and check it out, You won't be disappointed.

So in the neverending battle of Saga clones, where does it all end? In my opinion, right here at Old School. Now many things have been said about us and the various clones out there. Mainly that those that play these clones are unoriginal and immature. That being said Old School is made up of a portion of those that played the original Saga. So we have an older, and somewhat mature playerbase (at times, lol) and it shows. We have a well thought out skill system and races that have their own original flair to them, specifically Dragons, Genies, Demons, and Kaios. All the old favorites are there also. Saiyans, Nameks, Halfbreeds, Bio-Android, Androids, Icers, and Humans. Now we come to Roleplaying. We have some of the best RPers on the net. They are skilled wordsmiths that can really bring their visions to life. Though the RP core players are small their skill more than makes up for it. Quality over quantity right? Finally we come to the staff. You may have heard things about the staff, and regardless of what you may have heard about their conduct I would have to disagree. I started here as a player and as long as you don't cheat or make a nuisance of yourself you have nothing to fear. We are here to help and help we do. We have skilled coders and builders and are expanding the mud even as I type these words. Though we are a clone we have, in my evaluation, managed to separate ourselves from the rest. Our playerbase is close and willing to help any newbies that happen to log on. So go ahead and drop in to say hello, you'll be glad you did.

First and foremost, I've never had a near as intense adrenaline rush from player killing on any game compared to this one. Any game, any console, any virtual setting. Not even close. Yes, even Halo. I'm not even really into the Dragon Ball series to be honest. Or much anime for that matter, I just really enjoy the simple complication of this game. The realm is so different from the average. It's a very interesting community. I have to say, the first Saga, and following Sagas always had ridiculously rude and hateful people. And that always just ruined the game for me. So I've played off and on. But this one is pretty solid with how they've chosen their community and administrators. The only thing that is missing is the thrive. The game has such a bad reputation because of prior players (as I just mentioned) that it seems people are afraid to play it again. Or maybe they're afraid to play it because it's so addictive (I know firsthand, as I've put this game higher priority than a girl friend). And that's why I'm writing this. Now's probably the best time to play. The golden years may be over, but as everything cycles and oscillates, there will be more golden years within this realm yet. And the reason I know that is because of the dedication I see to this game every time I play. The Constant efforts poured into this game by administrators and players. So come check it out.

I've played DBS ages like alot of people who decided to go looking for clones of the game after it's gates closed and ended up here. I didn't much care for the absurb PL gain increases, insane skills, and other 'good' things I had found on other ones and this seemed fairly close to the orginal Saga experience to me. Yet since day one I have to say this clone has gone a LONG ways to improve Saga as it should have been. One of the biggest and most interesting improvements in the game I'd have to say is the fact the immortals here have made the system of damage plus and the defence portions on score (for those that remember Saga) useful. They've redone how stats effect it which makes the 3 stats no one cared about a very big part of the game. Long gone are the days of pure Int stacking and in are the days of balenced stats. All of this is enjoyable since alot of new equipment has been added. Several new areas of the game also allow for much more enjoyable leveling up. It's pretty much a given though that most zones here have a very random level set for mobs in them, but a simple ask on the newbie/ooc channel will get you an answer most times. Of course you could also check the PL guide on their webpage which points out all mob names as well as their difficultly. The playerbase and Imms can come off quite harsh and trash talk alot. Which really is just a plus for me, if you have tough skin and stick it out then you'll be talking trash back in no time. Really it's more of a game talking trash there than an insult (a good sense of humor doesn't hurt either). Yet strangely enough RP exist and normaly thrives on this MUD. You can find at least two a night and a dedicated RP Imm who setups events. Truly the closest you can get to the orginal Saga.

DBS: Old School seemed to be a solid mud, with a good number of players and an interesting race selection. The system is fun, and there are a number of similar muds with a few differences. That being said, I'll move on to the point of why I'm reviewing Oldschool. An extra effort was made upon logging on by the immortals to harass me, due to the fact that I was seen on anther mud. I was frozen, sitebanned, and the players were encouraged to insult me. Again, just because I was seen playing another mud previously. Due to that extra attention, I figured I'd return the favor in this review! So if you want that kind of playbase on what seemed like a solid mud, go for it!

This is exactly why the DBZ Theme gets a bad reputation, admins that have no regard for players, the people that MAKE the game. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with SOS, Rio, but why not come try a more mature MUD. Come try DBI and I can guarantee your DBZ experience will never be the same. :)

Its funny, because I completely agree with the first portion of this review. But it just so happens that I was on the mud on the day in question, and that is NOT how it all went down. While it is true that a couple of the Imms and players were giving him some guff about playing another MUD, he then started spamming the newbie channel with obscene language for about five minutes before being silenced. He then immediately started a new character and again began spamming the newbie channel with obscene language. Both times he was warned, and only after the second five minutes of spamming was he silenced, helled, and site banned. This was far from a case of power hungry Imms picking on a player for no reason whatsoever. This was a case of a completely justified punishment, and I have the logs to prove it.

I can sum this mud up with one word: enjoyable. Since it was created, I have been around on and off to help mortals and play the game as well. This mud is literally, the best clone and mud I have ever played. This is not a biased opinion either, as I have played on some of the additional ones, and even the original Saga too, and the other clones are not nearly as good. First off, the staff. The original creator and owner has never changed, and most of the original staff still exists. This must mean something, no? Not only that, most of the staff is polite, easy to talk to and generally intelligible about every aspect of the game. Two commands especially helpful for newbies to the mud have also been introduced, sense and consider. While consider compares the stats of the mob to your character, sense actually tells you about what PL the mob is in comparison to yours. This can be extremely helpful for even player to player combat at higher levels. And if all of this fails to help them, they can always ask on the [NewbiE] channel where mostly polite players or immortals will answer. The code is highly original, especially with certain races like Dragons and Genies, where Dragons have to search for mobs so that they can acquire Dragon Balls to unlock their transformations; whereas Genies are able to absorb other races singularly to get the unique attacks and transformations of that race. The areas, while changed and many others added, still retain the feel of the original Saga. Old players will be happy to know that Coolers are still a very plausible option for training, and that gains are not upped in an attempt to make the mud more exciting. If playing the game for the gaining is not solely enough, RP is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the mud. With clans that require mandatory RP to join, and Imms that RP freely with mortals with incentives for RPing, it is not only fun but also rewarding!-- Paragraph included All in all, this mud has kept my attention for over a year and a half now, and it keeps drawing me back in with new innovations while still preserving the original feel of the Saga we all once knew and loved. Awesome.-- Word added.

Right, so I was browsing DragonBall MUDs in a moment of boredom and decided to try Dragonball Saga Old School. I must also say I was not impressed with my experience. If you're a veteran of these kinds of muds I don't know, maybe this place is for you; but in order to like it you have to know what you're doing from the get-go. You can't use channels until you've already trained a significant amount, which means guess what, kids - if you have trouble or a question you can't ask for help. If this is your first time in a MUD overall, as well, don't expect much help at first either. The helpfiles are vague, at best, forcing a player to deduce their meanings through trial and error; such basic commands such as movement and opening doors are left to the player to guess at since, without any help, they can't use channels to ask what to do. Such basic channels as 'OOC' are out of your reach for quite some time. I think that, in itself, is my primary complaint. On top of that the ease of increasing your strength steps into the realm of boredom; open up notepad, type 'kill fighter' about a million times and copy-paste, and you can just go do something else while your character mindlessly kills enemies. There's no exploration or effort involved. Just kill kill kill. All in all, as I stated, I was not impressed. As such I wouldn't recommend this MUD. Go find another where you can actually walk around, collect money and items and interact with players; that's my advice.

Dragonball Saga: Old School is, by far, one of the best DBS codebased muds around to this date. New players have a various selection of areas to train, and can receive help from other mudder by just asking on the [NewbiE] channel. Older players, from another DBS mud perhaps, will have an easy time adapting to the environment and atmosphere of it. The original equipment system has been altered to give a better customization of equipment for each different race or type of player. New(er) areas have been added, and a new race(Dragons) has been added in the installment of the 1.5v codebase customization. The demon race has been revamped to be more useful, as has the Halfbreed race - so they are stronger in both modifications and skills. The gravity training system has been altered to give a faster payout of increasing stats. 'Super mobs' have been added to give special equipment on defeat, if you are lucky enough to encounter one and beat it. Overall - A fun time for new players, and a good time for the rest. There is a respectable Admin-base, which are hard at work creating new areas for the pleasure of mortals. Have fun, and try out Dragonball Saga: Old School while you can.

Where to start, where to start... DragonBall Saga Old School is a poorly thought-out, poorly-designed MUD. It had a nice character generation system, and seemed alright at first. However, it quickly becomes apparently that this game needs a lot of work. First, the game itself can be hard to just wander around. Trial and error seems to be the only way as there really isn't any map system that I could find. Just getting to a place to start fighting and building up the power level of my character took a good bit of figuring out. Then fighting itself. What a pain it was trying to figure out just what my character could take. Enemies for characters up to PL of 5,000 were practically side by side with enemies of the 10,000 persuasion, who were right next to the 100,000, and so on. This tier needs some serious remodeling. On top of that, typing in 'kill fighter' (Or any other command) 20 times in a row kicks you off of the MUD. This needs to be taken out, as the way it's set up...you will find yourself typing it far more than 20 times in a row. Skills also take forever to learn. You get an initial practice up to ten percent, and after that...good luck. It's almost a waste of time even trying to build them up to anything useful. The staff also gets less than good marks. The OOC channel was full of chatter making it hard to concentrate at all. This would've been fine if they said a lot at once. But it was filled with half-sentences and misspelled words, and of all things all-caps. One of the staff mentioned the MUD needing more players. But after being told by yet another to leave if I didn't like the all-caps going on, I think this MUD could stand less players. To sum up: Poorly-designed maps, horribly thought-out mobs, and a less-than-courteous staff who seem to be complete ego-trippers make this MUD less than enjoyable. It has a good system that could work if it were planned and worked with more. But as it is, you're better off even with another generic clone. Atleast some of them have a friendlier staff. Turning off the OOC should never be a requirement for enjoying a MUD. And for a MUD that says they need more players, I would think they'd be a little more courteous. I guess it takes all kinds. But that's it for my review.
