Empire was created over 7 years ago, and has grown steadily ever since. This immense, all-original world began as a diku mud, but has since transgressed into something much more enjoyable. A multi-continental world connected by ships and dragonflight forms an epic world with a large and long history. A system of introductions allows anonymous playing where others only see your descriptions rather than names unless you wish otherwise. This along with a magic system that uses memorization instead of mana, learn by use instead of practicing, skill based intensity of spells rather than lost concentrations, along with years of other modifications and you've got something unique. We support the usual multiple coin types, bankers, colors, etc. that go with most muds. Empires interface is dominated more by words rather than numbers and this adds to the role playing context. Give this mud a shot and you'll be listing it amongst your favorites for years.

The Empire is a large MUD of over 5000 rooms. It is geared to fantasy role playing. It is billed as one of the hardest MUDs in terms of level progression. This is not a first-timers MUD, but for the experienced Mudder - it is a treat. The accent is on role playing your character. Possibly the largest number of 'action' commands around to help facilitate role playing.

In the world of the Empire there are 7 races and 13 classes. Among other features, we have racial languages & special abilities for each race. Unlike other muds, there is no mana. You memorize spells before you cast them. That allows for greater strategy planning in the game. There are some 151 spells and 26 skills to choose from. Some of the features of empire include several coin types, scripted rooms and objects, moving rooms, large ocean going ships, full olc, some online-programming done in C, more than 10,000 rooms, an intro system, ansi color, a configurable interface with many options, regeneration rooms, vampiric weapons, levers, buttons, timed spells, and many many puzzles. In the world of the Empire there are 2 major cities: Arandor and Bantham. Arandor is on the West coast of the Great Ocean and Bantham is on the East. There are also smaller towns all across Empire, where you can rent, sell stuff to shops, buy stuff from shops, meet cool people, practice your arts etc. We have a newspaper written by players and about events that happen in the world. You can also purchase maps of the world from certain shopkeepers.
