Description
LustyMud is one of the oldest US muds, established in early 1991 and operating almost continuously since then. There is a huge variety of areas with very imaginative themes and strategies. The mud's economy is player-run, with guilds that players manage in order to gain various benefits (heal rooms, teleport rooms etc). Check out some of our games and puzzles (the Puzzle Palace is an all-time favorite, for example) or simply hang out in the bars and socialize. Newbies and old-timers, all are welcome on LustyMud! (Contrary to what the name may imply, this is a G-rated mud.)

LustyMud is one of the original LPMuds in the United States. It came into being as Dartmouth LPMud, or Melchior, in March of 1990 at Dartmouth College. We've gone through several sites and admins, but now we are stable at lusty.com (port 23) and looking forward to new players! We have a player-run economy (one of the first ever created), skills and spells to learn, and even a class guild that players can join. We are very newbie-friendly, and our code base is VERY stable. Please come check us out! -Larovjad, admin of LustyMud [3]

LustyMUD is a family rated mud (the name Lusty actually comes from a player/Wizard who used to run the mud) and operates via a guild based system. It is mainly player run with no player killing allowed. But for those of you who simply must pit your hard bods against each other, there's a players arena where you can mock beat the heck out of each other - even to mock death. Players have been known to meet in real life and *gasp* real life marry - we're one big happy mudfamily. You'll quickly be accepted into the brood and soon be laughing at the rest of us. For those of you looking for a truly unique experience, LustyMUD is also mostly player designed - wizards who became wizards after playing for years know what players like - and they design for player thrills. There's simply no end to the imagination and world types represented on LustyMUD. You're sure to find something to please even the most ecclectic sense. A heavily modified LP mud, Lusty is chock full of nuts - and lots of things for players to do and interact with. Players race for rare and valuable weapons and armors by killing monsters - but also interact with each other via auctions, social pubs, mud wide trivia and dating games, and much more. Players vary in age from 6-46 and many players have been there for years and love to meet and help new players. Extensive help listings will get any new player ready to run, kill, and interact with others. All in all, a great 'Cheers' pub-ish kinda place to go. Visit lustymud.com today for more information and links to play.

Everything Danielle wrote is true...except for the 'one big happy mudfamily' and being 'accepted into the brood' parts. Yes, it's true that people have met and married IRL, but that's not what I'm refering to. That's only part of the story. The other, much more prev2alent part of the story is that LustyMUD has become a very political MUD. This is a MUD for people to vent their political and social beliefs as much as it is for them to play and have fun. That may seem all well and good, but the MUD is unfortunately dominated by people with extremely liberal views. This is particularly true among the wizards/administrators. If you have differing political and social beliefs and make them as well known as those on the liberal side, you are no longer considered part of the 'one big happy mudfamily' and are rejected from the 'brood' very quickly. Several players - myself included - over the past few years have left LustyMUD because of all this. It takes away from the gameplay and is a rather large blemish on what is otherwise one of the best MUDs out there. So consider all of this before you start playing. If you can restrain yourself from engaging in the political banter (and/or try to avoid it using in-game methods), then it is a great MUD to play. Otherwise, it would probably be best to avoid it and find a MUD that isn't so politically oriented.
