Angalon is a wholly original medieval fantasy world. The atmosphere is akin to a well-written novel, with a deep and consistent history throughout. Adventuring in Angalon goes beyond playing a 'numbers game' - nothing is measured numerically. Strict attention to detail, absence of typos, and a remarkable sense of consistency and believability have produced a world of adventure and questing that offers a satisfying escape from the world behind you. In spite of our Huge world size, the rooms are intricate! "White space", the potential for muds to produce reams of uninteresting joining-rooms, is kept to a minimum. There are dozens of unique quests throughout. This mud has been active, maintained and growing in a controlled and healthy fashion for many years, offering many plots and challenges for different styles of players. The atmosphere is intended for people of all ages, and we appreciate if people can use appropriate language in public places. Many long and lasting friendships begin in Angalon. For those who are new to mudding, the help files are comprehensive. We recommend you spend time reading these whenever you have a moment, as they can enrich your experience of Angalon's detailed environment. Note - Please be familiar with the rules; choose a sensible name for a fantasy game; and may the Watcher look kindly upon you. [2]

A large fantasy world with great attention to detail. Unique mythos and areas combine to provide a continuity seldom found in other muds. Combining thoughtful quests with detailed combat, Angalon shows that a mud can be more than just hack and slash. With a world waiting for you, why not come and explore? [4]
Angalon is a unique world with great detail and ingenious quests. [5]

The Dread Pirate here, to tell you about the great lands of Angalon. Angalon is a completely original world, unlike many muds. It has a enormous size for such a detailed world, and although I have tried many muds, Angalon is by far the best. Not simply because of the world itself, but because of the people in it as well. Where pk friendly worlds often encourage stupidity, Angalon requires you to think to quest, while you slay beasts and interact with other players, who are generally high intelligent. Angalon brings me out of the mundane world and into the next. While Angalon does not largely encourage playerkilling, there are places where you can pit your skills against others. The immortals working here are friendly and extremely intelligent, and always put their best into what they do. There are limitless items, weapons, skills, abilities, and monsters. The guilds are highly detailed and balanced. and whereas many muds are forced to rely on numbers, angalon is so intricately woven in words that you will never feel a need for numbers again. Any help you may need you can find. Angalon is unique. Join us, and maybe you too will see what it means to sail the seas of Angalon aboard your own pirate ship, becoming kin with the wind. Recuran, The Dread Pirate of the Golden Ocean and Comrogue of the Iron Morfen, great adventurer, male human.

This is definitely the best MUD that I have ever had the privilege of playing. Starting off the game is slow and difficult, and the quests take much patience and intelligence. It is a very balanced game in the sense that it requires you to use your mind just as much as you use your brute force. The professions that you are able to choose from may require you to perform a quest to join, which can be a big hassle. Though, in the long run it is worth it. One of the strange things about this game is that, when you do join a guild(profession, faction) some of the experience that you obtain from the slaying of various and vast amounts of monsters goes to that particular guild. The more guilds that you happen to be a part of the lesser amount of experience your character shall receive, though it will progress in it's profession. The skills you can learn require a fee, and to further study certain skills, you must join a guild. There are arena's in which you can challenge other players to a one on one match to the death. Also, there are some islands in which player killing is allowed. This gives balance to the amount of of role-playing and player killing involved with the game. Although, you will find that the role-playing inside of the game is much more enjoyable. The reason being is, that it takes a good amount of time to actually progress in this game. This is not the game to play for one day and become one of the strongest characters online. You will find yourself immensely addicted to this game, very very very easily. Every character that I have had the pleasure of meeting has been more than kind to me, and it is very appreciated. I plan to continue playing Angalon for a very long time. I recommend this game to anyone who loves a challenging game, do not go in this game with the mind set that it will be easy, because you will quickly be disappointed. Enjoy!

Greetings, Adventurer I am pleased that the paths of our travels have crossed so fortuitously. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is MacLeod of the Black Raven Clan, a clan recognizable via the agency of a certain tattoo, but that is a conversation for a later date. I am also a Duskhawk. What is a Duskhawk? We are a band of swordsmen who specialize in fighting with a sword in each hand and who possess great skill when fighting in close quarters. We are sworn to protect the Port and Principality of Rostoff, where we make our home, from the dastardly pirates who plague our waters. However, do not think us to be too noble. That designation must be reserved for the Knights of Mineth. No, we occupy the middle ground between the Knights and the various bands of mercenaries who roam the lands of Angalon. While we are sworn to protect and serve Rostoff, we do earn a bounty on the head of every pirate or bandit that we dispatch. Our is a riotous life of battle, comradery, and drink! Join us, if this sounds like the life for you. If not, perhaps one of the other guilds will suit you. Perhaps you would enjoy the life of a Ranger. Perhaps magic is more your taste. There are many options to choose from. I’m sure that you and I will get along well as long as you do not join with the pirates, in which case I stand to profit from your death. A word of caution as your begin your adventurers in Angalon. Take care lest you become lost in the vastness of the world. Pay careful attention to your surroundings, for you never know what treasures or dangers they may hold. Be friendly and you will make friends as everyone is eager to help each other along. And if perchance someone is not friendly to you, well, there are ways to deal with that as well. The gods grant you safety and prosperity on your journeys. Fare well until we meet again! MacLeod

Recuran, unofficial tour guide of Angalon here- this game is brilliantly crafted, in my opinion. I've been there about 5 years, and when I was first beginning, Angalon was something I looked forward to playing every day. However, recently our player base has decreased enormously. The quality of a mud can often be defined by its players- thus, I invite you all to come play this mud- A huge enviroment in comparison to some muds, descriptive in every feature, and challenging to a great degree. Quests vary from easy to challenging, and unlike some muds, you must find them- a variety of weapons, armors, and NPCS await you here- I hope you visit our mud- Look for Recuran if you need any help starting!

Angalon is the best mud I have ever played. It totally rules. The only thing I don't like is that admins are inactive for some time without improving their areas. Other admins are not likely to fix the coded areas of other admins. There is NO LAG and the system is clean. I love the weapons, but wish that they would give the younger players more of a chance to get the nicer weapons. I do not like the quests that are real long but apreciate the smaller ones.

Angalon was the first mud I had ever played. I found the people of Angalon very friendly. This place is consumed with detailed room descriptions, many quests, a wide selection of various weapons to choose from while killing and maiming mobs. In recent years the game has evolved in NPC teams which challange the players to become an efficient hunting team, partnering is essential to survival of the players, in the ultimate goal, to kill the suti-gral! This game could evolve beyonde what it is now, by adding player run guilds, Shops, and also the ability to buy homes. Roleplay is not enforced here, which is good in some ways, but really does need a little more enforcement. The penalty for death in this realm comes at a great cost to thoes who wish to become a mighty warrior or mage. The skills of the game are always being tweaked to, what it seems the NPC's advantage. What this game lacks, is this: STUFF TO DO! Once your player reaches a certain level, killing becomes mundane, very boring, so you sacrafice it, only to start from the beginning again. The players of this realm are very friendly to others, which makes this place great indeed. I wish, that the game would evolve more towards time consuming tasks, such as making weaponry, or running shops, running cities, and whatnot. If you choose to visit Angalon, be sure to find me, my name is Hudson the Keeper of the Claw, Buccaneer Captain and Great Chief Bonecrusher, hero, male orc. I hope to see you there!

A fantasy world where you can be a Human, Orc, Dwarf, Elf, Hobbit, or Gnome, and can encounter many more races and creatures. I first started playing Angalon in 96 when the world was small and the guilds were few... Now there are over 10,000 rooms (according to council, I haven't counted myself) in many different cities that you travel to by boat or wagon. Each room has great detail, and you can look at (exa) anything in the room description, or any sub description... There is no "filler space", every room is carefully coded and reviewed by many people before mortals may roam there... There are many guilds and clubs you can join (some are easier to find then others), some with very stiff penalty for leaving, some with none... You can join up to three guilds (occupational, layman, racial) for a great variety of combinations. Just remember to introduce yourself and remember who you meet, and you'll be off to a great start.

Angalon is a huge mud fruit of eleven years of effort. I have been playing this mud since 2002 and although i have tried other muds i have always returned to angalon. The others mud never seem to cut it. One of the main differences with angalon is the 'no numbers' policy which i personally like a lot. You aren t at 20 hp, you are felling very well, and you are t at 1 hp, you are at deaths door. you haven t got 100 strength, you are titanic and so on. People are friendly and will gladdy help you with questions you may have when starting out (especially the Hudson bunch :P). The hardest part as a newbie is getting a weapon to start up (although you can try exploring but even then sometimes you need a weapon) if you decide to give this mud a try don t hesitate to send me a tell to get you a weapon until you can get your own. The Development process (Coding-wise) is very rigorous and after 11 years the result is and extense and detailed world. The guild system allows a main profesion a secondary one and race asociation and although some combinations are more popular (mainly due to their power) one can choose guilds because they seek power or because they fit your character. Roleplay is encouraged and you can only kill players in certain areas (gandar, lokado island, ny-eth area) Try angalon you won t regret it.

Angalon is without a doubt the best MUD I've ever played, it has a vast amount of features, descriptions, and lately its been growing, we are getting more areas to hunt in and new enemies to defeat. Teaming is in my opinion the most enjoyable part of the MUD, its thrilling to team up with friends and try to kill enemies vastly stronger than yourself, but at the same time scared by the fact those enemies might kill you. Angalon's friendly environment also helps you make up these teams with practically anyone. Angalon has a good variety of guilds (or jobs) for your character and you can even combine up to 3 jobs, every different combination is a whole different effect, some combos make you hunt faster, while others make you hunt stronger enemies, each combination has their strong points and weak points, and most complement each other when teaming. But what I like most about this MUD is the challenge, its tough to get to a good level, not only you have to spend ages working on your stat levels, if you want to improve faster, you'll have to quest, and believe me thats not easy. Even though it's frustrating when you die, specially at a high level, the feeling when you gain a new level, or improve your skills is priceless. If you want to try this mud you'll have to be willing to work hard on your character, explore and most of all, have fun.

Do you like to mud in the fast lane, getting fifty levels a day while you chat on every available channel? Then go away. Angalon is not the mud for you. Angalon is quiet. Angalon is slow. And Angalon is truly magical. The world is huge, but you will not find an empty or poorly written room. The quests are complex, often frustrating and deviously hard - and you will have to find them yourself. But that only adds to the feeling of accomplishment when you finish them. Most of the time, you will have only a vague idea how far from the next level you are - but if you are here to get levels, you will probably not stick around long enough to find that a problem. The people are great, but it may take a while before you get to know them. Angalon is not making things easy on you. You will not get to know the game in the first 10 minutes or hours or days. Don't give up too fast, you'd be missing out on a real gem among Muds.

Angalon is indefinitely the best mud I have ever had the pleasure of coming across. I have there for a few years, and I explored and found other interesting muds, but every time I found myself coming back to Angalon. The challenge involved in this game is well worth the effort one must put forth to experience it. With a huge land to explore, many monsters and villains to battle, a wide variety of guilds to join, dozens and dozens of skills to acquire, and an overall friendly population, Angalon is indeed a wonderful mud worth trying.

I've been a player at Angalon for an excess of 5 years now. The environment, people, and challenges are enough to envelop you completely and keep you glued to your computer for hours on end. Angalon is so well-made and thought out that it can take you away from real life and inject you into a fantastic wonderland of challenges and possibilities. The players are very friendly and the immortals always have an open ear to suggestions and feedback. But don't take my word for it, come see for yourself and I will stake a hundered platinum coins that you will not be disappointed!

I'm a player of angalon, I've tried many MUDs in the past, and i find that this is the most user friendly, and the people who play are always kind to new players. It's a great mud with many features, and the "immortals" actually listen to your suggestions/ideas/comments when you are willing to share them. The rules in angalon are really quite simple, mostly common sense. I love this MUD and will play it for as long as i am online.

I've been a player at Angalon for a few years now. During that time, I've been testing out other muds to compare (I'm so sorry all you Angalonians who thought I was faithful, but I had to see what other muds were like :) with and I think its safe to say no mud is more unique and fun to play than Angalon :) The atmosphere, the players, the NPCs, the equipment, the quests, the combat -- everything is unique and so well coded. Take a look at the mud, but don't give up too soon, it is a wonderful mud you don't want to miss out on.
