I've been playing on Blackfire for about 2 years now. Honestly, I don't even remember when I started. Throughout my time here, I've seen and gone through lots of changes. When I started, there was a few regular players and I quickly got to know everyone. The small playerbase was a big change for me because the mud I previously played had 400+ players on usually. I've seen the playerbase fluctuate some from 5 or so when I started to 15-25 players on and now back down to 5 or so. I don't want 400 players, but 25 or so would be nice. The current regulars on Blackfire are, for the most part, enjoyable people to play with. Enjoyable doesn't mean everyone's always nice as that would get boring. I wouldn't catagorize Blackfire as a 'pk' or 'roleplay' mud because it's much more then that. We have times when pk is the thing to do and others when we'll all get together and roleplay something. We even do a bit of socializing too! Blackfire has a lot of nice features to keep you busy. First off, there are only 3 classes here; rogue, sorcerer, and monk. The option to become a specialized 4th class is being worked on and will hopefully be a reality in the near future. (Right now our coder is working on rewriting the code to optimize it so the major changes are few and far between. For now) Another feature that I like is the ascii wilderness. There are over 4 million rooms that make up the wilderness to connect the areas of the game. (All areas are original too.) With so many wilderness room you may think that travelling the lands might be long and tedious. Why walk when you can fly? Players can purchase personal flying mounts to carry you around the wilderness. There are currently 30 unique mounts to choose from. Levelling on Blackfire isn't too hard but it does require some determination as on any mud. There are 40 levels per class and the option to reclass when you reach the end of your current class. If you decide to reclass it takes a little work on your part. There is a unique reclass quest for each class and, while I've only completed one because I became immortal before they were added, I can tell you they are not easy. If you complete all three classes you become an immortal (not the same as a god). All of the areas on Blackfire are original, as I mentioned previously, and well thought out. We have about 35 areas right now but they are all of quality. There are some areas that are so massive that you will have to go through many levels before you are able to see it all. The assortment of xp and equipment areas is pretty balanced. I mentioned previously that all the players are enjoyable to play with and they are. If you come in, free...
