There is no limit to player statistics, with technically infinite hitpoints and kipoints available, and players can indulge in side-missions, roleplaying, item hunting, and more real-life tasks, such as fishing, cooking, and creating their own items - All of which bring substantial rewards to the player's character. Roleplay is automatically rewarded by the MUD, and the points gained can be used in a number of ways - Including Fusion. Points earned from completing missions goes towards jobs, or small rewards, like power increases or items. In addition, we update frequently, and fix bugs within days or even hours of them being identified and confirmed. We are always on the lookout for talented new builders, and always on the lookout for engaged players. The MUD isn't for everyone, and I'd be lying if I said it was, but we certainly will do our best to make anyone feel at home. Coupled with our extensive character customisation systems, which are constantly being improved on, we hope that you will enjoy your time here, and recognise our attempt to rise above other Dragonball MUDs. For clarity, this is -not- a DBSaga clone. The code was written from the ground up from stock Smaug by myself, with a few released code snippets from other games. [1]

At first this MUD seemed to be pretty good. I had heard about it years ago while at DBX:R, but actually cared what everyone else said about it, and the general consensus was that it was terrible. DBX:R and several other MUDs I've played have either gone the way of no players/administration or just outright shutdown. Well first appearances can be deceptive. Normally things like an occasional typo or spelling error I can forgive. We're human, it happens. But the amount of them here make me wonder if the builders were over the age of 12. Speaking of builders, and administrators in general, during my time on, I have seen one. Yes others can be invisible, but by now I'd have seen some sign of their presence either by them talking or making change. Next is the interaction with the players. A select few are easily befriended. But for all I know that's just because we're all new or relatively new characters. Those who have been around awhile either ignore you, or kill you whenever the opportunity arises. Either there is nothing for you to do when you advance to a certain point, or the entire population of strong players can only kill each other in ship to ship combat. And lastly is enforcement of the rules. Do I care if I get PK'd? Under most circumstances, no. What comes around goes around. And it is semi-PK focused. But when a MUD has rules regulating it, and the rule specifically states 'Repeatedly PKing someone with no VALID RP REASON will be classified as harassment.' and not enforced, then I must wonder why have the rule at all? Sure, the MUD offers 'NPK' flag. But when you die, it comes off. And you have to turn it back on, something not everyone may be focusing on when they just got killed. And nothing is more irritating than losing it because I misjudged how long I could survive in gravity, and as I go back to get my corpse and gear, I get killed AGAIN by someone with nothing better to do because the stupid NPK flag came off. Simply put, I can see why the people of DBX:R had nothing positive to say about Dragonball Star. I might put some time into it here and there, but it definitely won't be an addiction as some of the more original, well organized, and thought out DB themed MUDs have been.

This mud has a great staff and very helpful playerbase.Theres a few older players that are more than willing to help out any new players. There's a very nice selection of races and an expansive skills list for each. If you love Roleplay and Dragon Ball then you'll love this mud. This is a must play game for all you Dragon ball fans out there. This mud is a mature and well established community. Overall I would give them an 9/10.

For the most part, this is an okay mud. HOWEVER, at least one individual on their immortal staff is EXTREMELY pottymouthed on public channels. There is nowhere in the character creation for this mud that requests information as to whether the player is over 18 years old, but the language on this mud from this imm is indeed fit for a pornographic website. I am VERY disappointed that an IMM on any mud would feel this type of language is appropriate for a public channel. I am not easily offended, but there's a time and place for everything.

First off, don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying. However, I feel your comments sound too much like a knee-jerk reaction. You're objecting to a few lines in which certain words were used. Since the guidelines say there should be 'absolutely no profanity' I will not repeat them. However, as profanity goes, this was pretty innocent. I've heard harsher words in pop songs. To say that they were 'fit for a pornographic website' is a gross overstatement. Now, just a few observations. First, the MUD is based on DragonBall Z. A reasonably violent anime series. Being an adult or being mature enough to handle adult themes is an implicit requirement. Secondly, DBZ MUDs generally don't attract that many players, so someone had to know of DBZ to search for such MUDs and thus was already familiar with more adult themes than merely strong language. Thirdly, the TMC entry clearly states there is Adult-Oriented Violence and thus the same implicit requirement as stated in my first point. And finally, you had played for all of 4 hours before deciding to delete and state this on TMC as though it's a matter of course. It's not and you are hardly in a position to speak so 'matter of factly' about it. Oh, and you could've just turned off that particular channel.

Star is still around and still growing! New areas are always in the works thanks to the dedicated staff of builders and supervisors. Just recently a bunch of additions and changes were put through. a handful of new skills as well as changes to some old ones. A couple of racial changes to help differ the style of play between the races a little more. As well as the addtion of stances and moving combat. Now fighting is not about being the strongest but being the smartest as well. Star isn't just another Saga clone or Evo look-alike it is one of a kind in every way. If you're looking for a good DB game or just a good game in general log on and have a look around. New members are always wlecome. Also you can stop by the forums http://dbstar.genesismuds.com/ to have a look at whats going on! Hope to see ya there!

Dragon Ball Star has to be one of the best DragonBall muds out there. There are a multitude of races to choose from, all with their own advantages and disadvantages, and changes are always being implemented. Although the roleplay is sketchy at best, it does provide a means for people to take a break from the normal hack and slash routine. A word of warning to new players, however, the staff and especially the players(most of them anyway) are not very willing to help and would sooner cut you down than lend you a helping hand.(Asking for help may just make you a target for PK) Also, if you are easily offended and/or insulted I would recommend that you stay away from DBStar as insults and profanity run rampant here. It all comes down to who the player is. The code is awesome, but the gameplay can be a bit rough. So I would advise to keep your npk on and your head down to avoid any unwanted flak; this is especially true as a newbie.

Well, as one of the oldest players/Immortals around, I hate to say most of the things Trunton has said are true. Although I am rarely on nowadays, I'd like to see the playerbase change for the better. Finally, things seem to be getting together, and I would love to see it continue to do so. Playerkilling and insulting, as well as lack of newbie helping, isn't as bad as when I first started playing DBStar. I remember a time back when the highest characters all had Immortals alternates that they used to help. Now, I see many faces on the hiscore boards, of people who have actually played the game to know it, instead of just peeking at the programming and building. Things have changed since then, and as stated before, we've advanced much since then. I hope Trunton's review won't turn many away. I only wanted to state, as one of the Immortals who has seen this game though, that we are taking turns for the better, not for the worse. On behalf of Dragonball Star, happy gaming. -Advanced Builder, Exile

I was looking for a good dragonball rp and found this. Immediately I loved the staff and players! It's all like a big family... that you can kill if you get mad at! I played this one time and liked it compared to the other rpgs. This one has got to be the best yet, and it continues evolving with the playerbase. The immortals listen and interact with you, accept your ideas and listen to your complaints. Great atmosphere and great people playing, come join!

Dragonball Star has just upgraded to a new server, no more downtime! Because of this there have been a few changes. There was a Pwipe so everyone gets a freash start and newcomers won't feel so weak, as well as some new areas to help make training easier. Each race has it's own style of play and transformations. Each race has a huge list of skills from the simple kiblast to the destructive Mega shine. Create your own gear and make yourself even stronger, take part in quests to get special equipments or rewards. RP is also highly rewarded, earn special perks or even become one of the Kai's and be granted special powers. Whether you're a fan of dragonball or you just want to play a good mud, come check out Dragon ball Star. Dedicated staff, a growing playerbase even a web comic based around the game is all available.

Dragon Ball Star!! We Just Pwiped!! A great mud that has been around for quite some time now. It has much to offer and just needs some players. Along with the pwipe came new additions like starsigns and dispositions. These two are picked upon character creation and affect how a character starts out. Another great addition to character creation is the choice of being a Maniac. Maniac is like a hidden status, but gives you certain advantages, as well as disadvantages from everyone else. The best addition for the rpers is the automatic give out of rp points during an rp. A special formula has been entered into the code to give out instant rp points, which may be used for many things, such as character development. The gravity training system is also original, and has been tweaked, to allow for new players to train safer with config +safetrain. The gains from training pick up after a short period, so you have to stick in there. Kili is a great addition as well, having a various range of uses. Some of the uses are buying stats, buying perks to develop a character, calling back up (being worked on), and getting a job like bounty hunter or samurai. And for the pkers, there are also things you can do that are pk orientated. Some races have abilities where they gain stats/powerlevel from using an ability on someone in a fight. Bioandroids can assimilate a dying person for stats and powerlevel. Demons do the same by eating people, and tuffles can lay eggs to increase their multipliars. The only thing DB Star lacks is players, but it makes up for this in every other area. If the mud were to be populated, this mud would be the greatest. Come check us out at dbstar.genesismuds.com 20000 !

Looking for a Dragonball/Z/GT game where you can have some fun? Then Dragonball star is what you want. With races ranging from Saiyan, to Tuffle (what Bebi was), the possibilites are endless. Loads of skills, attacks, transformations, etc. Helpful imms, roleplay every day, new faces always showing up, this MUD keeps on delivering. Unique abilities like Body Swap for mutants, lay egg for tuffles, regeneration, near death gains for saiyans, and plenty of other things for the other races. Gravity training, sparring, exploring, fighting, roleplaying. Enough to keep an avid dbz fan busy for quite some time. Not to mention all the transformations you can get Kaioken 1-10, SSJ-5, The icer forms, etc. If you like dbz, and like playing games, then stop by and give Dragonball Star a try.

I was just commenting because of the lame comment that I noticed someone posted. I'm on a shared server with my housemate and we have both been on the server for quite some time. Yah we took a test to see if we were on the same comp or not, but after that there was nothing. I've come across this in almost every mud I've been on so it didn't suprise me, but if it bothers you then you shouldn't mud because I've had this experience with every mud that you can't multi in. Anyway, it's one of the best muds I've found in a long time. It has diversity and some fun people. The players may not get to your questions right away, but in general it's a good place and fairly newbie friendly. Not to mention if you do run into one of the imms he/she won't ignore you. There's a board for suggestions that actually gets taken seriously, and some extreme maxes so it has mass amounts of play time opportunity.
MudConnector.Com Review (Archived) by on Sep 15, 2004
What a joke. Me and my friend were bored, so we decided to go try a mud. Come across this one by review. Without so much as a hello or anything, both my friend and I were prosecuted for multiplaying, because we are on a shared network. This is the lamest administration I've seen in a long time. Since the invention of broadband internet, any little 12-year old kid can run a MUD on his little linux box. If you are going to kick every person on a shared network that connects to your game, you're doomed to fail, and I'm rather glad I found out early on that your game won't be worth playing. So those of you who THOUGHT you might play this game with your friends, don't waste your time, they don't care, it's all 'multiplaying'. ... So much for my mudding mood, back to coding I guess.

One word that I can simply use to describe this MUD in its entirety: Fun. It's got the DBZ theme down, with an ever-present immortal who's hard at work to make the MUD better for the players. It's still growing in code, players, and areas. This MUD has a great selection of races, each with their own abilities and transformations. This isn't a DBX MUD, this isn't a DB Saga/World MUD. It's Dragonball Star. It stands alone, and prides itself on that fact. Good players, good immortals, and an even better game. If you like DBZ and are looking for a new long-term game. Look up Dragonball Star. There will be a person there to help you if you have a question. My final grade on this MUD: A. It keeps getting better everyday. Check it out!!!
