(The following is a review by one of the players, which does a better job of describing us than any of our own words can} 'Legend of the Nobles, or LotN, is the mud I call home. With dedicated administration and an incredible coder, LotN runs quite smoothly... As well as original races, there are many interesting classes to choose from. Be the mighty fighter, or the sly rogue. Be the Paladin, and fight for your religion. Be a Conjurer, and dabble in demon summoning and work with the undead. Be a bard, and play your melodies to influence and inspire others. Be a shape-shifting druid, attuned to nature. Be a mage with the power to enchant armor and weapons. Or be a priest, where you don't fight and you gain experience through healing others and drawing powerful glyphs. This mud has a pleasant balance between roleplaying and player killing ... From a players point of view, I've always loved the content and abilities found on Legend of the Nobles. It has a detailed noble system, religious system, questing, leveling and so many wonderful features. The issue was that from a staff members point of view we lost our way a few years ago. We decided that realism was the thing to strive for, and it made some of the game no longer enjoyable. We made decisions that we thought were best and we made horrible mistakes instead. This eventually drove players to leave, due to not enjoying the game play any longer. Today, a limited number of staff have returned to begin repairing the damage done and encouraging old and new players alike to login and begin the adventure anew. To strive to reach their goals to become a member of the nobility and to lead. We are inviting you to join us. To login, give us your opinion and to make suggestions. The staff IS listening.

My goal for the past couple years was to write a review of LoTN (Legend of the Nobles) once a year. I generally get around it in January. Now where do I start? Well let's start with the immortals. They may appear online at times, but sometimes they choose to go wizinvis, this generally represents they are working on something. Recently, there has been 1-3 areas added to LoTN, with a couple fixes to make the mud a bit more unique. At times, like any other mud, the players feel the imms are abusing the power. Through hard thinking and actually talking with all types of players, I hardly see this actually happening on LoTN. Though at the time of the situation, it may look like it. Does this mean it never happens? Of course not, no matter what, there will be at times when an immortal is cheating, but the implementors and other immortals try their best and catch them, and they get reprimanded for it. However, when I started here, the immortals were friendly and they are still to this day. Next on the line up is probably you are curious about the races. Well in an earlier post, I stated if you like to RP a loud mouth, there is a race for you. The races on LoTN, I haven't seen anywhere else on other muds. All the races offer a different RP style, and it is up to you which style you like. The classes, like Joe stated about 6 months back, are pretty much stock based. There have been changes with them as well over the years. The RP is continuously changing, there are players who are strict with their RP, while there are others loose. Some like to pick fights while others try to avoid it. Of course, you get those type of players in every mud you ever play. There are the pk'ers, though we have lost quite a few over the years, but there are a couple remaining. However, over the years, the Pbase may have dwindled a little, but we are still as friendly as ever. Most of us, will answer any question a new person has about this place. So if you are looking for a place to call home online, check us out and try us. You may find yourself satisfied with our world. After all, that is what MUDs are for, to escape reality.

Ok, So... first I'm not here to flame lotn or give the place some bad review just because I don't like the staff members. But I glanced through the previous reviews and I don't really find them to be very accurate, at least not anymore. There was a time when lotn was home to a selection of very good mudders ones who did call the place home. Now it's simply ruins of a once good mud. Where to start I guess. Let's start with the staff issues. Abuse of power is one thing that i've never quite agreed with on muds. I've seen it on more than one occassion. Imms giving directions to players trying to kill other players. Imms stepping in to save a player's life when the attacker has a good reason for attacking. I've even seen imms kill a player for little reason. I could go into detail but there's no need to go there it is something that needs worked on however. The noble system is an interesting concept to the mud. However... most of the kings and queens have been imms or know the imms directly. So there's an issue there that needs to be resolved. The mud i'd say buildingwise has alot of original rooms. Quite a few pieces of stock still laying around too, but its not really a bad thing so to speak. Some people find comfort in stock at first so it fits well enough. The races are original, the classes are fairly stock. Nothing really innovative that i've noticed. Single backstab assassins, they make poison, warriors swing swords, though they do have stances but so do other places. Really i haven't seen anything in the classes that I haven't seen anywhere else.. So creativity is needed there. Guilds... Well not many people really fly their colors anymore. Only three active. That's pretty much my review I guess of the place, I've touched most of the areas of importance. I've played at lotn since version one. The place has had it's ups and downs. Most of the original players left along time ago. There are a few stragglers left. My time with the place is over however. It's just not what it used to be. To all the newcomers, give it a shot if ya want. Just note it's not perfect. And as a former imm, and player, what was said in the review is true and not meant to run people off from the mud. Moreso to keep those who are looking for a new home a more up to date listing of issues and problems the mud is facing rather than happy go lucky reviews that are perhaps outdated, considering a number of the people who wrote the reviews quit on bad terms. Anyway, if you've questions about the mud you're welcome to contact me. aim - mainframex

I'm sorry you felt bitter enough for being penalized to post such a slanted review. I'm sorry to say that this seems to be where the large majority of our negative reviews come from. Our positive reviews come from real players that like our mud. Unfortunately they do not post reviews near often enough. He was right, we are mostly original. We are consistently trying to improve upon the mud. I personally spend several hours a week on fixing bugs or developing new features for our players to enjoy and be challenged by. Our builders are developing several new areas, while re-vamping other areas. We only ask that you give us a fair chance. Our players and staff are more than willing to help. Our staff will be more than happy to help you, where possible, without breaking the rule or cheating. We do not abuse our power. This is a misconception by those that do not like to be reprimanded.

I've been playing at LOTN now for a few years and have been given the honor of becoming one of the Immortal staff as well as a God Character to play. Lotn has became a really great place to go and make friends as well as have alot of fun. Plenty of room for Rp and loads of great new areas to explore. The staff keeps adding newer areas and mobs not to mention gear and weapons all the time to help keep things exciting. Some newer additions are High level mobs that have treasure well worth the time it takes to kill them. One has 5 Quest tokens and enough cash to make you happy for awhile The pbase is small and we are always on the lookout for more players looking to enjoy a break from the everyday boredom. Plenty of helpful players and Immortals for any newbie so stop by and become family.

[Warning - The following review does not reflect the sanity level of the writer, nor the state of mind at the hour which it was written] I'm on late, at least for most people. Very few people are seen at this hour. I almost like it better this way. I can wander the areas without being cut short, I can aquire all sorts of new and exciting equipment without a rival in sight. I am a peasant in this new land of Gatihnar. I have seen a Queen and an Earl, a few Knights and some Squires. So far none of them have approached me for my pledge, but perhaps that is best. I shall study those that play for a worthy liege. Do you want to find a liege as well? Perhaps you will rise to become my liege. Take a land, get a title, become the new King or Queen. Get knighted and fill the ranks. Check in with the crew during the day or look for some lonely soul late like me!

LOTN is a very good mud, and I love it. I would highly suggest everyone give this one a solid shot. We have a complex and interesting noble system, and while RP is highly encouraged, and tons of fun, we also chat with each other about everything under the sun, and you'll see people who are becoming friends over the OOC lines take each other to task In-Character. The opportunities for interaction with the players are mind-boggling, and make this probably the best mud I've ever played in terms of action. There are a number of races to choose from, none of them stock races, and there are a number of interesting professions, making your choice of race that much more complex. The character creation process can be as detailed or as simple as you want, and your only main limitation is your own creativity. The staff has worked very hard on making LOTN an original, unique mud, and in version 5 they've even killed Midgaard! Most of the areas are unique to LOTN, and those that aren't are under plans to be reworked to fit the themes we have in our happy little home. Anyway, I would greatly and highly recommend Legend of the Nobles. Stop by and check us out....look for me....Cialis el'Zahin, Knight of Gatihnar, Master Bard, Hero of the Realms.

I tried a few different classes on this noble game and fell in love with the bard. The songs you can play are not quite like spells, but have some very nice effects. Over the years I've seen many add-ons and snippets utilized in a mud, but it looks like the staff actually picked ones that made sense. I like the fact that they used restraint in what was added, not just putting something in because it was out there. Roleplay was sporatic but when it came it was intense! The interaction, well, you just stop what you're doing and watch or take part. You can't help it!! Come one, Come ALL! Take it from the Bard!

I happened upon this game after what was described to me as an upgrade was launched. The playerbase was small, but I've been on smaller games before. The staff answered many questions quickly. One of my questions even led to an update to the game itself. Kind of makes a player feel powerful when that happens. The nobility system seems like a good starting point, but could be expanded to include war between nobles on a global scale, more power for the nobles themselves and perhaps background information or something for the lowly squires to pledge to. A flag, a coat of arms, maybe a sigil. Besides that chance for growth, a good and continually evolving game.

Legend of the nobles has just recently gone into it's 5th, and best version so far. All of the kinks have been worked out, the classes have found balance and so have the races (all of which are completly original). We've got a noble system second to none, you start your way off as a lowly peasant and can work your way up to king or queen. Lots of fun to be had there. We also have a guild system that's tied in with religons. Automatic questing, oh yeah it's all there. We've got wonderful builders who've been working overtime to make great new areas. So Legend of the nobles has everything in place to be one of the greatest muds ever. The problem? Well, in our peak we're lucky to see 15 players. With this low amount of players everything we've put into place goes to waste. I, myself, am an RP immortal and I have some great ideas for rp, but it just goes back to lack of players. So here I am pleading for you all to come and check out what could be one of the best muds out there. Peace Oh yeah, tell them I sent you.

LoTN has been a home for many many years. In that space of time, the mud has undergone many changes, mainly for the greater good of the mud. At present we are in our fifth version, and to the pleasure of many of the players, our best yet. The mud is a very newbie friendly, and both the players and staff are very helpful. I recommend this Legends to both the newbies and experienced players, it should be a pleasure to both.

In my eyes, LoTN v4 was the greatest mud of them all. The extensive role-play, the intensity of the players, the greatness of the Hero's was all but enough to keep me coming back for more. But boy was I wrong. LoTN v5 has v4 beat by a mile. Improvments on EVERYTHING possible have been made, and it even seems as though the characters are more intense than before. The role-play of LoTN v5 has increased to its peak, bringing new players everyday into the realm of Gatihnar. With a 2 thumbs up, it earns my Seal of Approval and Reccomendation for all mudders.

Legend of the Nobles, or LotN, is the mud I call home. With dedicated administration and an incredible coder, LotN runs quite smoothly. With a new version having just started this weekend, there are many changes. As well as original races, there are many interesting classes to choose from. Be the mighty fighter, or the sly rogue. Be the Paladin, and fight for your religion. Be a Conjurer, and dabble in demon summoning and work with the undead. Be a bard, and play your meddlies to influence and inspire others. Be a shape-shifting druid, attuned to nature. Be a mage with the power to enchant armor and weapons. Or be a priest, where you don't fight and you gain experience through healing others and drawing powerful glyphs. This mud has a pleasant balance between roleplaying and player killing. You cannot kill a player without a strong IC reason, and this rule is heavily enforced. With the guild, religion, and noble systems, there is plenty of opportunity for intrigue. One of the most notable changes this version is the inclusion of permdeath. While creating, you can choose permdeath (turned into a ghost if PK'd), hardcore permdeath (turned into a ghost if killed by anything), or you can choose not to play permdeath, with the classic reincarnation at the temple scenario. The permdeath option was included because too many guildleaders and high ranking nobles were being player killed, and not deleting. This will ensure a more realistic atmosphere. Those who do not play permdeath cannot achieve the highest ranks. I recommend anyone who reads to this to join us. All of our long-time players are always willing to help a new face in any way we can. And right now, with the new version, everyone will start off on even footing, level-wise. So please, come join us. Visit http://lotn.betterbox.net for more information.

LotN's a great place to Mud if you're a first time or experienced Mudder. It's like that bar where everybody knows your name, we're all one big family. The level system is great as well as equipment, the PK system, just all in all a well coded game. The staff are almost always watching over things to make certain everything is in order. I've been on the game for a long time and can honestly say there's no other mud I've felt more welcome at.

Legend of the Nobles is the best MUD i've played yet. It has very challenging enemies, well laid out maps, and plenty of space for everyone. The New V.5 is awesome, the main things that have been improved being exp displayed right in your status bar, new maps, better spells and spell groups, better classes. Without a doubt this is only going to get more interesting as i learn the new maps and find new places.

Legend of the Nobles is an incomparable mud, in my opinion. I have played here for the better part of 7 years, I've experience a multitude of exciting adventures, and met lots of friendly and interesting people. The experience that LOTN provides is one of a high RP, unique world with friendly and helpful players who genuinely care about the mudding experience. Add to that a dedicated immstaff and some highly original and creative code, and you've got an unforgettable experience. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Legend of the Nobles has a quailty to it which could not be described in justice. The kind of quailty you'd understand if you've played a mud for the better part of your adult life, and it just fits like a glove. Only with lotn this quailty is present within moments of logging on, everything just feels right. That being said, there are also things about lotn that need to be said. A prev2ious review mentioned that most of the pkillers had been 'chased' off. This can't be more true. For as long as i've played lotn i've been a 'good guy' always trying to get the pkillers. Back then I just didn't know how to pkill (pkilling can't be taught, it's trial and error.) Well, now I do know how to pkill, but I look around for a 'big bad pkiller' and there are none. I never noticed it while is was happening but one by one they al got chased off. This is a plea, come back! I'm going to have to start pkilling soon enough. I make it a point to always help when a newbie asks, the same can be said about the rest of the mud. The imms are nice enough, the work hard enough but I don't see really what they've been working on. For a long time now they've been saying all work is going towards the next version. So I guess i'll be able to comment more when I actually see the next version, till then if you need immly help you'll get it. Rp as stated in many other reviews is on really a self serve basis, start rp'ing and someone will join in. If you see someone else rp'ing jump in and thats about it. Although there is a new movement being pushed to write in background stories for yourself, also a new RP imm has really started shaking things up. Mad props to you Cyn. I'd like to think of lotn as the little mud who could. It just feels right. With a larger more diversified pbase lotn would be much more enjoyable.

A great mud for beginners to start off with, in fact the first mud I started with. trubie and newbie friendly, with a great staff to keep you on your toes. After RotD and whatnot, even I became a builder, then lost my privilages and am now back again as Mprog Specialist. Isn't it funny how life works? A great noble system, nice religion system, and a pbase that will keep you coming back for more. Many friends have I made on LotN and many more do I hope to meet in the future.

I have played this mud for just over two years, started off as a newbie that hadn't played an actual MUD before, and eventually I rose through the ranks to become Head Builder and an administrator. It has been nothing but fun. Sure, you have your ups and downs but I still log on from here, when I travel I found some way to log in wherever I'm at, if just to check in. I am hosting and planning a gathering for the game and I enjoy doing all of it. We have plenty of help for those newbies that want to get on, HELPER Flags and such, and our standard mud school is great to introduce someone to the mud if they have played others before and want something familiar to start with. We have original areas mixed with some stock which is slowly being phased out, a fully functional noble system, a guild system and a way for our nobles to own their own personalized houses to seek refuge and role play in. All in all it has the same kinks as many other muds, with different players and such, but at the same time is great fun to be on, great people and lots of fun. Come check us out!

The Immortals do one hell of a job keeping this mud up. Their fantastic role-playing abilities always seems to fascinate me along with their bold and cunning coding and building, it provides all of the mortals more than just a great mud to play on. Its unique Noble System of which this mud is primarily known for, is one of the most elaborate systems of any kind I have ever seen. I would strongly suggest you look into this mud. The Noble System at LotN is not something to be over looked. So check it out!
